Hi! I’m Shayna.
I believe that people are so capable of healing and feeling better. Having some focused support can speed up the process and facilitate lasting impact and positive change. My approach to therapy is rooted in attachment theory and neurobiology, recognizing the importance of our personal patterns both in relationship and within our own internal systems.
My main areas of practice are perinatal mental health, parenting support, anxiety and mood disorders, complex trauma and personal growth. My clients are often experiencing anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, grief and loss, difficult life experiences, birth trauma, and/or challenges in their important relationships.
Whatever is going on for you, I can provide emotional support, therapeutic intervention, an action plan, practical tools, and psycho-education so that you feel more confident and equipped to navigate your life.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology at Adler University in Vancouver, and have since engaged in ongoing training and education in mental health. I have my Certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. You can find a list of my trainings and credentials on my website.
I am a human first, and I show up for clients as my imperfect and authentic self. I very much encourage clients to be real with me too, and to be honest with me about what’s working and what’s not during our sessions. Trust, and a good connection between you and me is essential to you getting the most out of therapy.
I am an open book and happy to answer any questions you may have about me, my credentials and experience.
